Chase Wado Kai goes Gatka! 22.06.2008

In recent months, Chase Wado Kai have begun training with the Baba Deep Singh Gatka group under the expert tuition of Ustaad Harjinder Singh.

Gatka is an ancient battle tested martial art and contains many armed and un-armed techniques.

The lessons have been open to intermediate and advanced students alike and have been most enjoyable and enlightening.

Sensei Dave Jillings commented “We have been most impressed with the friendly attitude of the Gatka group and also the high quality of their tuition. Many of the techniques that we practice in modern day Karate derived from this system and we have found that the training has added another dimension to our ongoing development. We look forward to many more sessions to come!”

Rent Rise Forces Club Closure -
CWK Stick to Their Guns!!!
30.07.2008

During July 2008, rises in the cost of rent at Pye Green Junior School led to the un-avoidable closure of this long standing club. All students are advised to select an alternative club in the area such as the Five Ways School club – see club listing for further details.

Sensei Dave Jillings commented “It is a very sad time when escalating costs force the closure of such a club, especially one so well supported and long standing. We could have raised the price of training from £3 per session but we have maintained this price since the inception of Chase Wado Kai and felt that, inspite of rising costs elsewhere in our daily lives we should stick to our principle of cost effective training, whether for fitness, focus or fun for everyone. Unfortunately, in cases like this, as ever, it is the students who lose out. Thankfully, we have many other local clubs that can fill the void left by this closure so as few students as possible will be affected.”
